Cut quality for waterjet cutting

A waterjet cutting machine can operate at different cutting speeds and the speed of the cut determines the required finish one wants to achieve on the product.

The faster the machine cuts, the rougher the finish will be, but the faster cut speed will also translate to a less expensive cut.

Here is a sample of a piece of 40 mm aluminium that was cut at varying speeds to illustrate the different finishes at different cutting speeds.

Cut speed 100% - 20%

Rough cut: 80%

Cut speed 80%

Medium cut: 60%

Cut speed 60%

Fine cut: 40%

Cut speed 60%

Superfine cut: 20%

Cut speed 20%
